Shops

Frome Wholefoods, Cheap Street

Here's Sheila Gore, the owner of Frome’s largest independent stockist of Fairtrade goods. The shop sells Equal Exchange coffees, teas and sugar, Clipper Tea, Green and Black’s chocolate and cocoa, Divine Chocolate, Fruit Passion Juices, and Fireside Cookies. You can buy Fairtrade wine and spirits, nuts, honey and even brazil nut oil.

Sheila, a trained homeopath took over the Wholefood shop five and a half years ago and it has been a buzzing part of the community ever since. She and her manager Elmer run the store between them and carry all sorts of alternative produce from herbal remedies to organic veg, from speciality bread to ‘green’ cleaning products. Many of the store's lines are produced locally. One of Sheila’s team, Celia is a trained herbalist so there is lots of expert advice on hand.

Sagebury Cheese, Cheap Street

This exciting and tempting deli is run by Nicki Hillman and her staff and has been in Cheap Street for 9 years. For the mouth-watering cakes that the shop produces and sells, many of the ingredients are Fairtrade like sugar, cocoa and honey.

Nicki has always felt strongly about selling food produced in the local area where possible and many of her lines are from places in Somerset and the West Country including local honey and chocolate. The tea and coffee stocked by Sagebury cheese, although not part of the Fairtrade scheme is from carefully selected companies that support family plantations overseas.

In their chocolate range you can find Green and Blacks, Divine and Traidcraft as well as Green and blacks cocoa.
